Located in the heart of the Chianti Rufina wine region, Castello del Trebbio is a gem that captivates visitors with its stunning scenery and rich history. Just 30 minutes from Florence, this 12th-century castle not only serves as a picturesque landmark but also doubles as a working vineyard, where finely crafted wines are produced and celebrated. The combination of ancient architecture and modern winemaking techniques makes Castello del Trebbio a unique destination that will impress your friends and families.

I remember photographing a wedding day here where the couple incorporated the castle’s wine into their ceremony. The hills and vineyard setting, combined with the historic charisma of the castle, created the magic. Guests raved about the convenience of being so close to Florence.

Villa Catignano
This 17th-century villa offers an incredible opportunity for couples looking to combine history with understated elegance. Villa Catignano is located an hour south of Florence in the picturesque Chianti countryside, it features stunning Italian gardens that provide a serene setting for ceremonies and receptions. The villa’s elevated position allows for expansive views, as it is surrounded by vineyards.

This country house estate near Siena combines authentic rustic touch with essential modern amenities, making it a versatile and intimate choice for weddings. The grounds, which date back to the 1500s, tell a story of heritage and timeless beauty, offering an exceptional setting for both intimate ceremonies and lively receptions. A pool surrounded by greenery adds a touch of relaxation, allowing guests to unwind and enjoy the Tuscan atmosphere fully.

One of my most memorable weddings here involved an intimate dinner outdoor. The property’s layout allowed for a seamless flow between the ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception. Everything you need is there.
Lazy Olive
For couples who love history and a cozy atmosphere, Lazy Olive offers an exceptional experience. This country villa boasts a farm-to-table restaurant that highlights the rich culinary traditions of the region, alongside a historical site dating back to the 1200s. Its intimate setting provides a warm and inviting space, perfect my lenses and memory tools.

A wedding I captured here had a smaller guest list, but the couple made up for it with personal touches like handwritten notes for each guest. The intimate setting lent itself perfectly to their vision.

This castle in the Chianti wine region offers sweeping views of vineyards and olive trees, creating a luxurious setting for weddings. Tips for Staying Within Budget
Plan Mid-Season Weddings
Venues often charge less in April or October, which makes these months particularly attractive for couples planning their weddings on a budget. Plus, the cooler weather during these times is perfect for outdoor ceremonies, allowing guests to enjoy the natural beauty without the discomfort of excessive heat. Additionally, the change in season during these months can offer a stunning backdrop of blooming flowers in April or vibrant autumn leaves in October, enhancing the overall aesthetic of the celebration.
Use Local Vendors
Hiring local caterers, florists, and musicians can save on travel costs while ensuring an authentic Tuscan experience that truly reflects the richness of the region’s traditions and culture. By engaging with local professionals, you not only reduce expenses associated with transportation and accommodations, but you also gain access to a wealth of regional specialties, from exquisite culinary dishes to stunning floral arrangements that encapsulate the essence of Tuscany. Additionally, local musicians bring a unique sound and energy to your event, enhancing the overall atmosphere and providing a memorable experience that resonates with both you and your guests, ultimately making your celebration feel even more connected to the beautiful Tuscan landscape.
Simplify Decor
Many Tuscan venues are stunning on their own, showcasing breathtaking landscapes and historic architecture that capture the essence of the region. Focus on minimal decor to let the natural beauty shine, allowing the elegant simplicity of the surroundings to take center stage. By opting for understated decorations, you can enhance the venue’s inherent charm while creating an atmosphere of sophistication and tranquility. Additionally, this approach will ensure that the picturesque views and distinctive features of the venue are not overshadowed but instead celebrated in their full glory.
